Over 20,000 angry fans have signed a petition urging Manchester City’s Argentina striker Julian Alvarez to split with his girlfriend Maria Emilia Ferrero. Julian Alvarez has become a sensation in Argentina thanks to his scintillating performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Manchester City forward scored four goals in seven games in Qatar to become La Albiceleste’s second-top scorer in the competition. Only Lionel Messi (seven goals) scored more goals as Argentina ended their 36-year FIFA World Cup losing streak.
Like most of his compatriots, Alvarez took part in the celebrations after the World Cup in his country Argentina. Alvarez led a parade in his hometown of Calachin, sat on the roof of a fire truck and celebrated heartily with fans. According to the Daily Star, over 10,000 people made their way to the small town, which is 65 miles from Cordoba.
A petition asking Julian Alvarez to leave his girlfriend now has over 20,000 signatures.
Julian Alvarez’s girlfriend, Maria Emilia Ferrero, was also part of the parade, but one of her actions quickly put her on the wrong side of the supporters. Once Emilia was captured stopping the Manchester City striker from posing for a photo with a group of young fans. One angry fan was so offended by Emilia’s actions that he created an online petition to get Alvarez to leave his beautiful girlfriend. The said petition has since received over 20,000 signatures.
As expected, the petition had no impact on their four-year relationship. They attended New Year’s Eve celebrations together and shared a picture on Instagram.
One of Manchester City’s best players, Bernardo Silva has hinted he could leave Etihad Stadium for an exciting new project before his contract expires in June 2025. The Portugal international has ruled out a January transfer.
Bernardo Silva, “We’ll talk again in June to see what’s best. I’m concentrating on the City project and my contract would end on 31.”
“I won’t hide that in recent years if anything good happens elsewhere, my goal will probably be to move to a new project.”
Since joining from Monaco in 2017, Silva has made 275 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions, scoring 50 goals and providing 56 assists. He has won four Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola.
