The Delhi government announced the closure of all schools except for classes 10th and 12th on Sunday due to air pollution. All classes will take place online until further orders, Delhi CM Atishi has informed on the microblogging site X. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has announced Stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). The air quality in Delhi remained in the “severe” category for the past five days which prompted authorities to impose stringent anti-pollution measures starting Monday.
With the imposition of GRAP-4 from tmrw, physical classes shall be discontinued for all students, apart from Class 10 and 12. All schools will hold online classes, until further orders.

The Haryana government had also issued an order in this regard on Saturday due to increasing pollution. All the Deputy Commissioners were authorized to assess the level of pollution in their respective districts and temporarily close classes up to class five in schools. The Public Relations Department of the state government said that a letter has been written to all the District Deputy Commissioners by the Directorate of School Education in this regard.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Sonipat District Deputy Commissioner, issued an order to close schools up to class five on Monday owing to the district’s poor air quality. Online lessons would continue throughout this period, he said. There has been no information regarding the Faridabad and Gurugram schools yet. The municipal authority has not decided whether the schools would remain closed or open. Students can contact their schools about this.
Noida and Ghaziabad also suffer from high levels of air pollution. Currently, no directives or instructions have been given about the shutdown of schools or online programs. Parents and children may contact their school about this.
