CBSE Announces Major Reforms for 2025 – What’s Changing?

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced substantial modifications to the board exams for grades 10 and 12 for the 2025 school year. To lessen academic burden on students, the board has agreed to lower the syllabus by 10 to 15%. This decrease is intended to allow pupils to focus on crucial topics and foster deeper comprehension rather than rote memorization. Vikas Kumar Agrawal, CBSE’s Regional Officer in Bhopal, made the news at the ‘Bridging the Gap’ Principals Summit, held at Indore’s Brilliant Convention Centre.

Agrawal noted that the purpose of this syllabus reduction is to reduce the stress on students, allowing them to focus on vital themes and get a deeper comprehension of the disciplines.

Agrawal also described impending modifications to the CBSE exam evaluation system, which would shortly implement an updated framework:

Internal assessments will be given a lot of weight under the new scheme, accounting for 40% of a student’s final grade. Traditional written tests will be used to select the remaining 60%. This change attempts to promote a more equitable evaluation process by giving students more opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and abilities.
