Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Announces Major Reforms in Entrance Exams

In order to guarantee that admission exams are error-free, the administration intends to implement changes nationwide. State governments have been instructed by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to take part and offer their assistance for admission exams with zero errors. In January, the country will begin implementing the measures.

The education minister pointed out that the Radhakrishnan panel had submitted its report detailing changes to the National Testing Agency (NTA), and that the state’s assistance would be required for the authorities to carry out the suggestions.

“The Radhakrishnan committee has submitted its recommendations and to implement it, the states’ cooperation is essential. I have appealed to everyone on this matter, especially regarding entrance examinations. I have appealed to all state government education secretaries. A new entrance exam series for the upcoming year will begin in January. Based on last year’s experiences, the government has introduced numerous reforms,” news agency PTI quoted the minister.

The panel was given the responsibility of examining the existing security protocols related to the setting of the papers and other processes for various exam. It proposed a gradual transition to online tests, a hybrid model with digitally transmitted question papers, and a multi-stage NEET-UG format to reduce students’ stress and improve evaluation accuracy.

A panel was established by the center in June to investigate the purported anomalies in the PhD entrance test (NET) and medical entrance exam (NEET). Former ISRO chairman K Radhakrishnan led the group, which was tasked with ensuring that the NTA conducted exams in a fair, transparent, and efficient manner.

NEET was under investigation for many problems, including possible leaks. However, UGC-NET was canceled when the government was informed that the exam’s integrity had been jeopardized. NEET PG and CSIR-UGC NET were two more tests that were abruptly canceled as a preventative measure.
