On Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu hailed US Vice President elect-JD Vance’s win in the presidential election as a historic occasion that will establish Telugu-born Usha Chilukuri Vance as the United States’ second lady.
Usha, JD Vance’s wife, and her family’s ancestral hamlet, Vadluru, is situated in the verdant West Godavari area, some 35 kilometers from the district headquarters in Bhimavaram, close to the well-known Godavari town of Tanuku.
Usha Vance, 38, will become the first Indian-American to serve as America’s second lady after Wednesday’s Trump-Vance triumph.
“I would also like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to JD Vance, on becoming the US Vice President-elect. His victory marks a historic moment, as Usha Vance, who has roots in Andhra Pradesh, will become the first woman of Telugu heritage to serve as the second lady of the US,” said Mr Naidu in a post on X.
Calling this a moment of pride for the Telugu community around the world, Mr Naidu said he looks forward to the opportunity to invite them (JD Vance and Usha) to visit Andhra Pradesh.

The chief minister had earlier wished Donald Trump well and congratulated him on winning the US presidential election in 2024.
The chief minister said that the victory of Mr. Trump will improve India-US relations even further.
“I wish Donald Trump luck as he gets ready to lead his nation and congratulate him on winning the US presidential election. In a ‘X’ post, Mr. Naidu stated that the Indo-US alliance has been significantly strengthened during his first term.
Under the leadership of Mr. Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the TDP head said he is certain that India and the US would promote closer collaboration.
