The Ram Temple in Ayodhya is ready for Deepotsav today as worshippers prepare to celebrate Diwali. Following the Ram Temple’s consecration ceremony in January of this year, this will be Ayodhya’s inaugural Deepotsav celebration. The Uttar Pradesh government, backed by the Bharatiya Janata Party, intends to light up the city with 28 lakh earthen lamps in an attempt to set a new world record.
About 1,100 people would participate in a “special aarti” on the banks of the Saryu River alongside UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In addition to a Ram Leela performance from Uttarakhand, artists from six nations—Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Nepal, Myanmar, and Indonesia—will perform at Deepotsav. For the celebrations, strict security measures are in place.
Bhai Dooj will mark the conclusion of the five-day Diwali celebrations, which started yesterday with Dhanteras. Diwali is observed on the fifteenth day of the Hindu lunar month of Karthik, which typically occurs between mid-October and mid-November. It is also referred to as the “festival of lights” or “Deepawali.”
