The Odisha Public Service Commission announced on Wednesday that the Odisha Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2023-24, initially set for October 27, has been postponed due to impending Cyclonic Storm Dana.
The rescheduled exam date will be announced after seven days.
As Cyclone Dana approaches Odisha, anticipated to make landfall in the early hours of October 25, the state government implemented extensive preparations to mitigate its impact. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal from October 24 to 26.
Isolated areas in the districts of Baleswar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsingpur, Kendujhar, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Khorda, and Puri are expected to experience significant effects.
Pran Nath Seth, Executive Officer of the Balugaon Notified Area Council (NAC), outlined the preparedness efforts coordinated by the Khordha District Magistrate and the Housing and Urban Development Department.
Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in both Odisha and West Bengal have been placed on standby, while rescue and relief teams from the Army, Navy, and Coast Guard are on high alert.
