DoE Issues Directive to Delhi Teachers

The Delhi government’s Directorate of Education (DoE) has barred both instructors and students from using mobile phones in classrooms, libraries, playgrounds, or anywhere on school grounds. Instead, schools are encouraged to set up helplines for children and their parents to call in case of an emergency.

The Directorate of Education (DoE) issued a circular on Tuesday that stated, “Teachers and staff are prohibited from using mobile phones during teaching and learning activities in classrooms, laboratories, and libraries, including during arrangement periods.”

It directed teachers to make use of the smart boards, projectors, and K-Yan devices available at the school. K-Yan is an innovative smart classroom tool that combines a computer, projector, audio system, and interactive board into a single unit. The circular also outlines guidelines for effectively utilising arrangement periods, which occur when the regular teacher assigned to a specific class timetable is absent or unavailable.
