Background
Bedi previously served as the political secretary to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar from November 2019 until his recent appointment. He contested the 2014 Assembly elections from Shahbad and won by a narrow margin, but he was defeated in the 2019 elections by JJP’s Ram Karan. His political activities have included overseeing party campaigns across various districts in Haryana.
Bedi has expressed a commitment to engage more with his constituents and counter misinformation campaigns against the BJP ahead of the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His focus has been on increasing his visibility in local areas to strengthen party support.
Constituency Representation
Bedi represents the Shahbad constituency in Kurukshetra, a region known for its diverse demographic and socio-economic challenges. He is affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which achieved a remarkable victory by securing 48 out of 90 seats in the Haryana Assembly elections.
This win marked a historic third consecutive term for the BJP in Haryana, highlighting the party’s stronghold in the region despite fierce competition from the Congress party, which garnered 37 seats. Bedi’s electoral success underscores his popularity and the trust placed in him by his constituents.
