A powerful explosion tore through the wall of a CRPF school in Delhi’s Rohini on Sunday, prompting a multi-agency investigation to uncover the cause and track down those responsible.
According to PTI, a senior police officer revealed that authorities were exploring a possible Khalistani angle in the incident. While no injuries were reported, the IED blast damaged the school wall along with several nearby shops and vehicles.
The officer added that investigators suspect the perpetrators may have intended to convey a warning to the authorities, as per the news agency.
Notably, a post circulating on social media claimed the attack was carried out in retaliation to the targeting of Khalistani separatists across the world by the Indian agents, PTI reported citing sources.
NIA, NSG and NDRF teams were rushed to the incident site soon after the bomb blast near the CRPF school in Rohini.
On Sunday evening, a screenshot allegedly from a Telegram post by Justice League India began circulating on social media. The post included a video of the explosion with the phrase “Khalistan Zindabad” displayed as a watermark at the bottom.
“If Indian coward agency and their master think they can hire filthy goons to target our members to silence our voice then they live in fools world. They can’t imagine how close we are to them and how capable we are to strike anytime #KhalistanZindabad #JLI,” the Justice League India said in the post.
The Delhi Fire Services reported receiving a call about the explosion at 7:50 am, after which two fire engines were immediately rushed to the scene. On arrival, officials found no active fire and confirmed that there were no casualties, allowing them to wrap up their operation shortly thereafter. However, the blast resulted in significant damage to the school’s boundary wall, nearby shops and a parked vehicle.
