Delhi Metro Rolls Out Extra Trips to Tackle Festive Season Rush

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will introduce additional metro trips to address rising pollution and traffic congestion during the festive season in the national capital. The DMRC has also encouraged the public to opt for public transport to help alleviate road congestion and minimise air pollution.

With increased travel during festivals, using public transport can contribute to a cleaner environment while being a cost-effective, convenient, and stress-free option..

When GRAP Stage II is activated, DMRC will operate 40 additional metro trips on weekdays across all lines. If GRAP Stage III or higher is implemented, 20 more trips will be added, bringing the total to 60 extra weekday trips. This initiative aims to allow the public to travel long distances without exposure to air pollution.

The festive season typically brings a surge in traffic, resulting in crowded roads and longer travel times. By choosing public transport, people can reduce the number of vehicles on the road, easing congestion and creating a smoother journey for all.
