‘All Books Calling Akbar Great …’: Rajasthan Education Minister

Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar on Sunday said that any textbook depicting Mughal emperor Akbar as “great” would be burned. Talking about the Mughal emperor, he stated that Akbar had plundered the country for years and stressed that no one would find a mention of him as a “great personality” in textbooks in Rajasthan.

“We have checked all the textbooks. There is no mention of him. If it is there, then the textbook will be burned,” he stated.

These remarks were made during an event to mark the 28th state-level “Bhama Shah Samman Samaroh” at the Vivekananda Auditorium of Udaipur’s Sukhadia University.

Calling Akbar a “rapist,” Dilawar stated, “He was an aggressor. Calling him great was great stupidity.”

The Education Minister expressed regret that Maharana Pratap, who sacrificed everything for the honour and dignity of Mewar, has never been accorded the recognition he deserves as a great historical figure.

He underscored the belief that education represents the highest form of duty, assuring that every contribution made by benefactors for this cause would be utilised effectively and with the utmost integrity.

Earlier this year, in January, Madan Dilawar made controversial remarks about the Mughal emperor Akbar, labelling him “a rapist” and demanding the removal of references to Akbar as “a great personality” from school textbooks.
