The Indian Olympic Association announced on Friday that celebrated hockey goalie PR Sreejesh, together with pistol shooter Manu Bhaker, will be India’s joint flagbearers during the Closing Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Sunday.
According to the IOA, they are “delighted to announce the nomination of hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh as the joint flag-bearer with pistol shooter Manu Bhaker at the Closing Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.”
Sreejesh was described as “both an emotional and popular choice within the IOA leadership” by IOA President PT Usha.
Seejesh resigned from the game following India’s bronze medal-winning performance at the current Games. Throughout India’s campaign, Sreejesh faced 62 shots and stopped 50 of them, demonstrating his ability at the goalpost.
