Shivraj Chouhan Attacks Rahul Gandhi: ‘We Remember Krishna…’

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday took a swipe at Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi with a reference to Hindu epic Mahabharat. Without naming Rahul Gandhi, Chouhan said the modern-day ‘chakravyuh’ references made in Parliament were of “adharm (unrighteousness)”.

“Even when he referred to the Mahabharat, he recalled Shakuni, Chausar, Chakravyuh and all these words are linked to unrighteousness. Jaki rahi bhavna jaisi, prabhu murat dekhi tin taisi,” Chouhan said in Rajya Sabha.

“Shakuni was a symbol of deceit, betrayal and fraud. Why does Congress always think of all this?” the BJP MP said.

The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister also said that whenever the BJP talks about Mahabharat, they think of Lord Krishna.

Chouhan’s sharp attack on Rahul Gandhi came days after he launched an attack at the government in Lok Sabha, alleging it had trapped Indians in a modern-day ‘chakravyuh’.

Amid loud protests in Parliament, Gandhi alleged that the Chakravyuh was being run by six people led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Thousands of years ago, in Kurukshetra, six people trapped Abhimanyu in a ‘chakravyuh’ and killed him. I did a little research and learned that ‘chakravyuh’ is also known as ‘padmavuyh’ – which means ‘Lotus formation’. The ‘chakravyuh’ is in the shape of a Lotus,” Gandhi said while speaking during a debate in Parliament on the Union Budget.

“Abhimanyu was killed by six people. Today, too, there are six people in the centre of ‘chakravyuh’ – Narendra Modi, (Union Home Minister) Amit Shah, (RSS chief) Mohan Bhagwat, (National Security Advisor) Ajit Doval,” the Congress leader had said.

He had also named two industrialists during his speech, whose names were expunged from Gandhi’s speech following an intervention by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

Notably, Rahul Gandhi alleged this morning that his ‘Chakravyuh’ speech was not well-liked by “two in one” and that the Enforcement Directorate could be planning a raid on him.

“Apparently, 2 in 1 didn’t like my Chakravyuh speech. ED ‘insiders’ tell me a raid is being planned. Waiting with open arms

@dir_edâ€æ..Chai and biscuits on me.” he said in a tweet on Friday.
