After Manu Bhaker’s historic bronze medal win on Sunday in the women’s 10m air pistol event, all eyes are now on Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta. They will compete in their respective 10m air rifle events, hoping to add more medals to India’s tally.
Ramita Jindal had a challenging start in the qualifiers but managed to secure her place in the final by finishing in fifth place. She scored 631.5 points, showing remarkable skill and resilience after missing out on the mixed team final with Babuta on Saturday. Another Indian shooter, Elavenil Valarivan, scored 630.7 points and finished 10th, just missing the eight-shooter final. Arjun Babuta also made it to the final of the men’s 10m air rifle event. He finished seventh in the qualification round, securing his spot in the final.
Manu Bhaker, who made history as the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal, will compete again on Monday. She will participate in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team Qualification with Sarabjot Singh. Sarabjot narrowly missed making the individual final on Saturday. The other Indian team in this event includes Rhythm Sangwan and Arjun Singh Cheema.
The Indian hockey team, after a close match against New Zealand, will face Argentina in their next group-stage game. Paddler Sreeja Akula will aim to advance to the round of 16 in the women’s singles table tennis competition.
