Remembering Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on His Anniversary

The 111th birth anniversary of the patriotic legend, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, a shining star as-associating uncompromising nationalism, was celebrated by the BJP on July 6, 2012. The legacy of Dr. Mukherjee showers from Calcutta in 1901; he remains a beacon of untiring dedication to India.  at  33, he was the youngest vice-chancellor of Calcutta University, championing educational reforms and sensibilities of cultural pride.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today paid tribute to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on his birth anniversary. The Prime Minister said that his devotion to the mother land and sacrifice will continue to inspire the countrymen.

Shri Modi posted on X:

“अपने प्रखर राष्ट्रवादी विचारों से मां भारती को गौरवान्वित करने वाले डॉ. श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी को उनकी जन्म-जयंती पर आदरपूर्ण श्रद्धांजलि। मातृभूमि के लिए उनका समर्पण और त्याग देशवासियों को सदैव प्रेरित करता रहेगा।”

He invited Rabindranath Tagore to deliver a convocation address in Bengali the first of its kind in the South Asian subcontinent for the cause of Indian vernacular languages.dr. Mukherjee’s political courage shone in full splendor way back in 1946 while conveying the demand for Bengal’s partition to protect Hindu-majority areas in the province from going to Muslim-dominated East Pakistan.

His stiff opposition, in fact, to the idea of a united but independent Bengal smack of commitment to India’s unity.

The nationalism espoused by Dr. Mukherjee, founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh—the precursor to the BJP—continues to be an inspiration. His bold agitation against the special status accorded to Kashmir cost him his freedom, and the mysterious death in 1953 is another of the dark chapters of our history.

BJP President Shri Nitin Gadkari paid homage to the enduring spirit of Dr. Mukherjee on this special day. Shri Gadkari lauded his firm stand on an unending national symbol, Constitution, and leadership, which continue to inspire the BJP today. they  never-tiring pursuit of Dr. Mukherjee toward a unified and strong India, free of discrimination, is one torch that still shows some hope.

His legacy inspires us to build a nation rooted in unity, development, and equality. While commemorating his memory, we pledge ourselves to follow the track he enlightened us with and strive to make India a land of strength and harmony.
