NTA Denies Sending Torn OMR Sheet Amid NEET (UG) 2024 Result Controversy

The National Testing Agency (NTA) emphasized on Monday that no shredded OMR Answer Sheet was delivered via an official NTA ID in response to a video that went viral on social media on Monday, in which a student claimed there were differences in their NEET (UG) 2024 score and that they received a ripped OMR Answer Sheet.

“Regarding the viral video featuring Ms Ayushi Patel, claiming discrepancies in NEET (UG) 2024 scoring and receiving a torn OMR Answer Sheet, NTA clarifies that no torn OMR Answer Sheet was sent via an official NTA ID,” the national testing organization stated.

The student said that she did not receive her NEET UG 2024 results, announced on June 8, and instead received an email from the NTA indicating her results could not be displayed. Following this, the candidate and her parents replied to the email, requesting her OMR sheet be shown. In a video, the student revealed she received images of torn sheets and, after calculations, expects a score of 715. The student has filed a petition with the Lucknow High Court over the discrepancy, with a hearing scheduled for June 11.

“The OMR Answer Sheet is intact, and the scores are accurate as per official records. Candidates should download scorecards only from the website,” the NTA stated.

“I completed my paper 10 minutes before the scheduled end time and handed it to the invigilator. I was confident I would score above 700 marks,” the student added.

After sending multiple emails to the NTA, she was sent her OMR sheet.

“When I received the OMR sheet within the next 24 hours, I found it damaged, appearing torn. Upon checking with the answer key, I found only one Chemistry answer wrong. The rest were correct, and I should have scored 715 marks.”

She claimed that her OMR sheet had been tampered with. “The scanned image they provided shows a blue thumbprint, which isn’t possible; it should have been black,” she stated. “This indicates that the OMR has been manually altered.”

The student’s father runs a medical store, and her mother is a homemaker.

Recently, the NTA announced that the education ministry has formed a four-member committee to review the grace marks awarded to over 1,500 candidates in the NEET 2024 results. The medical entrance exam results sparked controversy as 67 students achieved the top rank, and several candidates claimed there were ‘irregularities,’ which the NTA has denied.
