In a symbolic move ahead of the scheduled inauguration of the redeveloped Ayodhya Railway Station by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ayodhya railway junction in Uttar Pradesh has been officially renamed Ayodhya Dham Junction. Lallu Singh, the Lok Sabha representative for Ayodhya, shared the news on social media, emphasizing the alignment with public sentiments and the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Lallu Singh’s tweet stated, “Ayodhya Junction has become Ayodhya Dham Junction. Under the guidance of the illustrious Honourable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi ji, the name of Ayodhya Junction of the newly constructed grand Ayodhya Railway Station has been changed to Ayodhya Dham Junction as per the expectation of public sentiments.”
The redeveloped Ayodhya Dham Railway Station is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on December 30, just ahead of the highly anticipated consecration ceremony at the Ram temple on January 22.
The station’s development occurs in three phases, with the first phase already completed. With a total cost of ₹430 crore, Ayodhya Dham Junction is designed to accommodate up to 100,000 passengers, blending modern solutions with the aesthetics of traditional Indian temple architecture.
Notable features of the station include an Infant Care Room, a dedicated sick room for first aid, a passenger facilities desk, tourist information center, and the country’s largest concourse. Additionally, the station offers standard facilities like cloakrooms, a food plaza, waiting halls, staircases, escalators, lifts, and toilets. Safety measures include fire exits connecting all floors.
Upon completion of all three phases, the first floor will host the country’s largest concourse, spanning an impressive 7,200 square meters. The station ensures accessibility for people with disabilities, providing specially designed toilets. The middle floor includes facilities such as retiring rooms, dormitories, lodging rooms, and spaces for station staff, contributing to a comprehensive and modern railway experience for passengers.
