NLC India Ltd Contributes Rs. 4.30 Crore to CM Relief  Fund

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund received contributions of Rs. 4.30 crore from NLC India Ltd., under the Ministry of Coal, of which Rs. 2.30 crore came from NLC India employees’ one-day wage.

The aid is intended to help people recover from the recent floods caused by Cyclone Michaung, which devastated Chennai and the surrounding districts of Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu, as well as those affected by the recent unprecedented heavy rains in the southern districts of Tuticorin and Tirunelveli.

Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLC India, handed over a check for Rs. 4.30 crore to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Shri M.K. Stalin today at the Tamil Nadu Government Secretariat in the presence of Chief Secretary Shri Shiv Das Meena.

In addition, NLC India offered assistance by sending out 18 massive 25 HP water pumps together with its engineers and experts from December 5 to December 15. This allowed them to drain 51,20,000 cubic feet of water from the flood-affected residential areas and avoid flooding important regions.

In an effort to lessen the effects of the constant rain, NLC India has now installed twelve identical 25 HP pumps in the Tuticorin area, which is prone to flooding. This deployment began on December 17.

Additionally, the people residing in regions impacted by flooding are receiving an extension of the drinking water supply from the RO facility of NLCIL’s Joint Venture Power facility, NTPL, in Tuticorin.
