Shivraj Chouhan Well-Wishes Mohan Yadav, his Successor as MP Chief Minister

In a significant political development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially named Mohan Yadav as the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, succeeding Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The announcement came after a key meeting in Bhopal, ending days of speculation following the BJP’s sweeping victory in the state.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the outgoing Chief Minister, graciously congratulated Mohan Yadav, referring to him as a “hardworking friend” in a Hindi post on social media platform X. Chouhan expressed confidence in Yadav’s ability to “create new records in the field of public welfare” under the “guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Mohan Yadav, a former cabinet minister in Chouhan’s government, humbly acknowledged the responsibility, stating, “I am a small worker of the party. I thank all of you, the state leadership, and the central leadership. With your love and support, I will try to fulfill my responsibilities.” Yadav will be supported by two deputies, Jagdish Devda and Rajesh Shukla.

The BJP, overcoming nearly two decades of incumbency in the state, secured a resounding mandate by winning 163 seats, while the Congress trailed far behind with 66 seats.

Chouhan’s ‘Ladli Behna’ scheme, which aimed at empowering women, played a crucial role in swaying voters in favor of the BJP. The scheme, along with other welfare initiatives, contributed to the party’s success in the state.

The BJP’s decision to appoint central observers, including Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, K Laxman, National President of the OBC Morcha, and Aasha Lakda, National Secretary for the state, for the selection process, raised speculation about the possibility of introducing a new Chief Ministerial face in Madhya Pradesh.

The last time central observers were appointed in the state was in 2005 when former Chief Minister Babu Lal Gaur stepped down. Since then, Shivraj Singh Chouhan had been at the helm until the political upheaval in 2020, leading to his return as Chief Minister after the BJP formed the government.

As Mohan Yadav takes charge, the BJP aims to continue its governance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with Chouhan expressing optimism about Madhya Pradesh reaching new heights of progress and development.
