Bollywood enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating Shah Rukh Khan’s third release of 2023, Dunki, set to hit the silver screen on Christmas. In contrast to SRK’s earlier ventures, Pathaan and Jawan, known for their substantial budgets driven by visual effects, Dunki stands out for being a Rajkumar Hirani directorial crafted on a comparatively modest budget. Let’s delve into the details of this cinematic creation.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, Dunki boasts a production budget of Rs 85 crore. However, this figure excludes the fees for the talented ensemble cast, including Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, and director Rajkumar Hirani. Notably, both SRK and the director share in the film’s profits and hold producer credits. When accounting for print and publicity costs, the overall budget of Dunki reaches approximately Rs 120 crore.
This financial approach marks Dunki as Shah Rukh Khan’s lowest-budget film in the past six years. Even when adjusted for inflation, it stands as his most economically priced project since Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
Reportedly, Dunki was brought to life in a swift 75 days, with SRK dedicating 60 days to the filming process. Remarkably, Shah Rukh seamlessly juggled between the sets of Jawan and Dunki during production.
Dunki unfolds as a captivating saga of love and friendship, interweaving diverse stories that promise both hilarity and heartbreak. The film boasts an ensemble cast featuring luminaries such as Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover alongside the charismatic Shah Rukh Khan.
Recently, the makers treated fans to the first song from Dunki titled “Lutt Putt Gaya,” providing a glimpse into Hardy’s love story as he finds solace in Manu’s unwavering support against the challenges of the world.
Penned by Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani, and Kanika Dhillon, Dunki is poised for a Christmas release, hitting theaters on December 21, 2023.
