The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 14 locations in Punjab and Haryana as part of its ongoing investigation into the attacks on the Indian Consulate in San Francisco earlier this year. The raids, carried out across districts including Moga, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Gurdaspur, Mohali, Patiala in Punjab, and Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar in Haryana, aimed to uncover the complete conspiracy behind the criminal trespass, vandalism, and attempts to set the consulate building on fire.
A spokesperson for the NIA revealed that the targeted places in North India were raided to unravel the conspiracy related to the attacks on March 19 and July 2. The incidents involved pro-Khalistani entities trespassing into the consulate, committing vandalism, causing damage to public property, attempting to harm consulate officials, and trying to set the building on fire through acts of arson.
During the raids, digital data containing information about the accused persons, along with other incriminating documents, was seized. The NIA had registered a case following the attack on the Indian Consulate in San Francisco on the night of March 18 and 19. Pro-Khalistani entities allegedly trespassed into the consulate and attempted to set it on fire. A similar incident occurred on July 2, with individuals making another attempt to set the Consulate building ablaze.
The NIA’s objective is to identify and prosecute the attackers and assailants involved in these attacks, sending a strong message to anti-Indian elements. As part of its investigation, the NIA had previously visited San Francisco in August to gather information about the violent incidents. The agency has also crowd-sourced information to identify and collect details about US-based entities and individuals involved in these attacks.
The raids signify a significant step in the NIA’s efforts to bring those responsible for the attacks on the Indian Consulate in San Francisco to justice and to address anti-Indian activities.
